I’m Writing Another Book!
I promised myself that American Whiskey Master Class would be my last whiskey book. It was a beautiful book, the nicest-looking book I’ve ever been lucky enough to be part of, and would make a nice capstone to that phase of my writing career. I wanted to continue that glide path into retirement.
But last year, my friend Em Sauter, a successful beer educator/illustrator/writer with four books to her name (one in Spanish!), said to me, “Would you ever want to team up to make an illustrated whiskey guide?” It took me less than 10 minutes to decide that this was definitely a project worth coming out of retirement to do! I’ve always enjoyed Em’s work (see some here at her Pints and Panels website), we see 100% eye-to-eye on no AI in creative works, and I’m happy to count her as a good friend who I’ve judged beers with, hung out with, and had quite a few laughs with.
So we put together a book proposal, my agent Marilyn O’Shea put unflagging effort into showing its worth to a bunch of publishers, and we finally signed with Lyons Press, an imprint of Global Pequot (who does “beautiful books,” according to Marilyn; perfect). Tough deadline, but we’re professionals, and the book will be out for the holidays next year. No title yet, we want to get it just right.
Pretty excited today!
